Old Farmhouse Parlour
Vaults on the ground floor
The historical vaulted ceilings in our farmhouse are original structures of the house that was carefully restored. The highlight of our house is our recreational lounge, which used to be an open fire kitchen throughout centuries all the way into the 20th century.
A thick tar layer that built up due to the smoke of the kitchen fires over many centuries is still shining through the lime plaster today.
It became necessary to modernize, remodel and restore the old farmhouse in the past years. It was always in our mind to protect and preserve the work of our ancestors. The door portal dating back to the 16th century is in remarkably good shape and its simple inscription is the guideline our ancestors left for us to follow. It is the connection between the ancient and the new structures.
